This is a fully finished costume sword cast out of epoxy resin. It is a historical re-creation of a high medieval (1300-1500 AD) Arming Sword often referred to as a Knightly Sword.
The lettering engraved in the blade refer to the Oakeshott System of classification for swords.
The Blade is of type XV – (IV engraved on blade) – (late one handed arming or knightly sword) – 34.5″
The Guard is of type 7 – 9″
The Grip is round leather wrapped (simulated) and is 4.75″
The Pummel is of type J1 (common english circular)
This type of sword would be used by knights and was adapted specifically to be used against plate armor. Its long tapered point was ideal for thrusting between armor segments. It would be used as a side arm and would be accompanied by a shield in combat.
This casting is of durable and hard epoxy resin. It is slightly flexible but strong and very hard. This sword would be great for a costume or a prop in a play or film. Because it is plastic it may be acceptable as a costume weapon at conventions.
Warning – This is not a practice sword. It will not withstand repeated blows.
